Description:
In light of 4th of July, American Independence Day this week, we shared some American cultural activities with the children at the Primary School in Targusor. About 30 children from the school participated, from 6-14 years old. From 10:00-12:00 the younger children were at the school and we separated into an art craft painting an American flag on wooden popsicle sticks and played some sport, teaching the American sport Kickball and then concluding with some time playing soccer (football) with the children. After 12:30 we had about 12 children, some of the older students came and some stayed from the previous group, and did a scavenger treasure hunt.
The students split into 3 teams of 4 each, with 2 Americans assisting and chaperoning the children to help them solve clues for 5 locations, and soldiers were also stationed at each location to assist the children finding more clues at each, once they had all 5 clues from each location, it revealed the location of a Treasure Map which led them to a classroom with a small treasure chest full of small toys, souviners and jewelry.
